Winnipeg Harvest

Winnipeg Harvest

Winnipeg Harvest is a food bank that contributes to approximately 340 soup kitchens, food banks and day cares in Manitoba.  Winnipeg Harvest distributes food to 39,000 people in an average month and 40% are children
St. Charles Church donated 1174 lbs. of food and $120.00 cash to Winnipeg Harvest last year.  There is a container at the back of the church for the parishioners to put in food and these donations are collected every weekend.

In October of each year, St. Charles Parishioners are encouraged to share their thanksgiving by donating a little more with a display at the back of the church including Harvest bins.
St. Charles School has also been very active by collecting food each October and has had overwhelming results.

In lieu of gifts, one St. Charles couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary invited their guests donate to Winnipeg Harvest - this was also very successful.

Our Harvest Committee encourages people in our congregation to  donate food to those who are not as fortunate.  One couple in our church attend Harvest once a week to volunteer their time and help is welcomed at the end of our October food drive to deliver St. Charles' donation to Winnipeg Harvest.
